Yoga

Sarah's initial connection with yoga began when she was aged 15 years. In 2007, after many years of practising Sarah travelled to India to train as a teacher in the tradition of Swami Sivananda and graduated as a Yoga Teacher from the Sivananda Yoga & Vedanta Dhanwantari Centre in Kerala, India, March 2007.

Her Sivananda-based Hatha Yoga classes include savasana (relaxation), meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), surya namaskara (sun salutations) and a flowing sequence of traditional asanas (postures) to encourage health, flexibility, peace of mind and awareness. Sarah teaches with a clear, calm and encouraging approach and all levels are welcome.

Classes

Outdoor yoga – during the summer months Sarah teaches yoga on Hove lawns, Wednesday mornings, 8.45am till 10am. Cost: £6. Bring sunscreen, sun hat, water and swim wear to cool off in the sea afterwards!

Drop in classes - Sarah teaches at Revitalise Café and Therapy Centre, 86 Church Road, Hove, East Sussex. Tel 01273 738 389. Friday mornings, 9.30am till 10.45am. Cost: £7.

Corporate yoga - Sarah visits work environments to offer de-stressing, energy-boosting yoga sessions during the lunch break (or after work) to clear the mind of clutter and increase productivity.

One to one yoga - Sarah can help refine your asanas (postures), develop pranayama (breathing techniques) and create a personalised yoga practice routine to do at home.

Yoga for kids - Sarah is a trained yoga for kids instructor with Enhanced Disclosure certificate and full insurance. See your children develop their confidence as they master balancing postures, increase concentration, develop strength, inner calm and a healthy self esteem. Small groups (ages 5 to 11, and 12 to 16). Sarah is running kids yoga sessions at Festinho Festival in Suffolk (4-6 September 2009) to raise money for a charity helping Brazilian street children transform their lives. Yoga and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Drawing on my own experience of IBS, and the research from my book; Irritable Bowel Syndrome: The Essential Guide (£8.99, Forward Press, Need-2-Know Series) I’m running workshops based on the ancient wisdom of yoga as a tool to help heal stress-related conditions such as IBS.
